I always remember the lines,
'Let us go now, you and I,
as the evening spreads out against the sky,
like a patient etherised upon a table'
Of course I paraphrase, I hope its correct:
T.S. Eliot - 'The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock'
I taught this poem to students for 2 years whilst teaching English literature in
Istanbul, Turkey....
...remembering also how the poem ends...
'I should have been a pair of ragged claws,
skuttling across the floors of silent seas'
...'I grow old, I grow old,
I shall wear the bottoms of my trousers rolled'
In the years that live me, I shall never fear the growing old.
I shall embrace. It is the beauty of experience.
No experience is universal.
It is lived within us like a myriad of mirrors.
Humanity is like a room full of mirrors:
I hope we form a beautiful reflection.

this is the waltz that never ends. feet moving in harmony with the music...
the earth rotates and so do the bodies...
feet may hurt after a while but the music is still playing. keep on waltzing... hold on to the harmony...
in the end we become old-aged dancers, with many experiences... we create a difference for those who care to take a look at the steps of the experienced feet.
the music never stops...
the reflection of a beautiful-traitor could never be ugly.
let us all be beautiful.
There's an attic where children are playing
Where I've got to lie down with you soon
In a dream of Hungarian lanterns
In the mist of some sweet afternoon
And I'll see what you've chained to your sorrow
All your sheep and your lilies of snow
Ay, Ay, Ay, Ay
Take this waltz, take this waltz
With its "I'll never forget you, you know!"
This waltz, this waltz, this waltz, this waltz ...
because i love you, i love you, my love,
in the attic where the children play,
dreaming ancient lights of hungary
through the noise, the balmy afternoon,
seeing sheep and irises of snow
through the dark silence of your forehead.
ay, ay, ay, ay!
take this 'i will always love you' waltz.
in vienna i will dance with you
in a costume with
a river's head.
see how the hyacinths line my banks!
